Essex Towers has been managed by APT since construction in 1978. Located on a city block in the heart of downtown Lawrence, Essex Towers consists of two high rise buildings containing a total of 198 elderly housing units. Although Essex Towers is surrounded by vacant lots and adjacent to poorly managed city housing, Management has worked hard to provide its residents with safe housing by utilizing security technology rather than security personnel. Essex Towers is a federally assisted Section 8 Housing for the Elderly with approximately 20% of its population being disabled individuals. Because of this property’s location, experienced management supervision is required. Resident safety is the number one concern at this property. Both APT and MGM Associates work closely with the Lawrence Police Department. APT started a Safety Awareness Newsletter for the residents of Essex Towers and continues to take steps necessary to ensure the long term viability of this development and the safety of its residents.
